  • Coronary care unit- Those with critical cardiac illnesses are treated under this unit, commonly for cardiac arrests, cardiac dysrhythmia and unstable angina to name a few.
  • Surgically intensive care unit- Patients who have undergone surgeries for critical illnesses which can be surgical specialties, trauma related and transplants but excluding cardiothoracic procedures. Since the conditions are unpredictable and can drastically deteriorate, constant monitoring and support is provided by the nurses and the surgeons.

Some of the medical conditions under the neurological intensive care unit are cerebral vascular diseases, brain tumors, stroke, aneurysms and post-neurological operation care. Frequent clinical examinations and monitoring techniques are used for treatment of the neurological conditions.
