The neurologist will first record the patient’s medical history, followed by performing a physical examination to evaluate the nervous system. The neurological examination will consist of checking the patient’s gait, sensory receptors, reflexes, coordination, cognitive function, nerve functioning and motor skills.

Additional neurological diagnostic tests we conduct include ultrasound tests, CAT scan, MRI scan, PET scan, angiography, sleep studies, electroencephalography (EEG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS).

The treatment for neurological disorders and diseases are medical and surgical in method. The neurologists assist with oral, topical and intravenous medications. The neurosurgeons perform surgeries to remove tumors and therapy with external devices to stimulate the nervous system.

  • For neurodegenerative diseases that create movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease and spasticity, treatments provided are botulinum toxin (botox) injections and deep brain stimulation therapy.
  • For demyelinating diseases like multiple sclerosis that damages the nerve impulses in the brain and spinal cord, treatment is patient-specific. The aim is to decrease the progression of the disease and further prevention. Our neurologists help in improving the lifestyle by providing medications, counselling and physical exercise therapy. The patients will also be referred for treatment with psychiatrists and urologists to aid in the recovery process. In the case of tremors, deep brain stimulation therapy is conducted.
  • For cerebrovascular conditions strokes, medication in the form of blood thinners, lipid control drugs and blood pressure control are provided by our neurologists. Neurosurgery is carried out to remove tumors and break clots in the blood.
