This field of surgical practice involves treatment of fetuses, infants, children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Our pediatric surgeon is involved in the treatment of congenital defects and disorders, major trauma, chronic illnesses and malignancies. Surgical treatments are carried out only after the diagnosis has been discussed with the pediatrician and the patient’s family.

Common diseases for which pediatric surgery are performed are appendicitis, chest wall defects, abdominal wall defects, childhood tumors, congenital defects, conjoined twins, pancreatitis, pediatric cancer, umbilical problems and ulcerative colitis.

Pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric otolaryngology, pediatric dentistry, pediatric neurology, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric urology and pediatric cardiology are specialties under pediatric surgery. Our pediatric intensive care unit is also available for treatment and post-operative care of critically ill infants, children and adolescents.
